Oracle Cards: A Beautiful Way to Tap Into Guidance and Intuition

Oracle Cards: A Beautiful Way to Tap Into Guidance and Intuition

We’re excited to now stock oracle cards at Blissful Things! Whether you’re new to using cards or already have a few decks at home, oracle cards are a beautiful way to invite inspiration, clarity, and gentle guidance into your day.

If you’ve ever wondered about the difference between oracle and tarot cards or how to begin your own practice, here’s a simple intro to help you connect with the magic.

Oracle Cards vs Tarot Cards: What’s the Difference?

Both oracle and tarot cards are used for spiritual insight and self-reflection. But there are some key differences:

Tarot cards follow a traditional structure of 78 cards, divided into the Major and Minor Arcana. Each card has a set meaning based on a symbolic system used for centuries.

Oracle cards, on the other hand, are more open-ended. They don’t follow a fixed structure, and each deck is unique—some focus on angels, spirit animals, nature, crystals, or affirmations. The meanings are often channelled by the deck creator, which allows for a more intuitive reading style.

If you’ve ever looked through the Blissful Things website, you’ll notice: there’s truly a deck for everyone.

Can Oracle and Tarot Cards Tell the Future?

Well—yes and no. A card reading can give insights into what’s ahead, especially when you divide the cards into past, present, and future positions. But it also depends on how you, the individual, interpret the messages.

Oracle and tarot cards are not about fixed fates. The future is never set in stone—we are the creators of our own reality. A reading offers guidance, a gentle nudge, or a new perspective. But there are always variables, and ultimately, how we act and respond is what shapes our future.

Think of the cards as a tool for self-guidance, growth, and discovery—a way to reflect on where you are and where you’re headed. They’re not about predicting every detail, but about helping you navigate life with more clarity and connection.

How to Use Oracle Cards

There’s no one “right” way to use oracle cards. That’s part of their beauty—they’re flexible and intuitive. Here’s how some people like to work with them:

1. Choose a Deck That Speaks to You

This is where it starts. Let yourself be drawn to a deck based on the theme, artwork, or energy. There are decks focused on angels, crystals, affirmations, fairytales, goddesses, ancient wisdom, and more. You’ll know when you’ve found one that feels right.

And yes, you can absolutely own multiple decks. They also make beautiful and meaningful gifts.

2. Cleanse or Charge Your Deck (Optional but Nice)

When I get a new deck, I love to give it a little cleanse before using it. My favourite ways include:

  • Leaving it under the full moon

  • Placing it on selenite or next to rose quartz

  • Simply holding it and setting an intention

This helps align the deck to your energy and creates a sacred space for your readings.

3. Ground Yourself and Ask Your Question

Before pulling a card, I like to sit with both feet flat on the floor—connecting with the earth, so to speak. Take a few deep breaths. You can ask a question or simply ask, “What do I need to know today?”

Some days I don’t have a question at all—I just pull a card and let the message guide me. A morning card pull is one of my favourite rituals. It sets a tone and offers a moment of reflection before the day begins.

4. Draw Your Cards & Reflect

There’s no rule here. You can draw one card, three cards, or follow a spread suggested in the guidebook. After pulling your cards, take a moment to really feel into the message.

Journaling is a powerful way to go deeper. You might want to write down:

  • The cards you pulled

  • What they mean to you

  • Any thoughts, emotions, or insights they spark

This helps you track themes over time and notice patterns in your growth.

Oracle Cards Are for Everyone

These cards aren’t just for psychics or seasoned readers. Anyone can use oracle cards as a way to connect with their inner voice.

Use them for:

  • Daily guidance

  • Journaling prompts

  • Meditation companions

  • Clarity during crossroads

  • Spiritual insight

  • Or simply a comforting message when you need one

They’re a tool for tuning in—not tuning out. For encouragement, self-reflection, and remembering your own wisdom.
