Can you feel the Vibe?
There’s something special that happens when I photograph crystals for the Blissful Things website.
It’s never just “taking stock photos.”
Most days when photographing, I’m outside surrounded by natural light, sunshine pouring through the trees, with the tūī singing nearby. Sometimes the bees are buzzing around the garden flowers. Sometimes I can hear my children laughing or talking softly in the background. Real life is moving around me while I stand quietly with each crystal in my hands.
The tata tree sway above me, the air feels peaceful, and for a little while everything slows down.
When I lift my Canon camera and get close to a crystal, I begin to notice all the tiny details hidden inside it. The inclusions, the rainbows, the delicate structures formed deep within the earth over thousands or even millions of years. Some pieces have cracks and crevices, growth lines and striations that tell the story of their journey.
No two are ever the same.
Some crystals feel waxy and soft in appearance, others glossy and glass-like. Some are polished smooth and comforting to hold, while others remain raw, sharp, earthy, and untamed. Every texture has its own personality.
I often find myself completely absorbed in the small details, the way sunlight catches a flash inside fluorite, the soft shimmer across moonstone, or the grounding weight of a piece of smoky quartz in my hand.
And while I photograph them, I always quietly hope something else too.
I hope that particular crystal finds the person it was meant for.
Because sometimes a crystal just feels like it belongs with someone. It has been waiting patiently for its person to discover it. I think that’s why I take so much care with every photo. I want you to see the real beauty of each piece as closely as possible, the imperfections, the rainbows, the textures, the little things that make it unique.
Nothing is perfect in nature, and that’s part of what makes it beautiful.
So when you visit the Blissful Things website, maybe what you’re feeling isn’t just the crystals themselves. Maybe it’s all the quiet moments wrapped around them, too, the birdsong, the sunshine, the peacefulness, the love, the care, and the intention placed into every single piece before it finds its new home.
