It doesn't matter what you burn first or last; it's what works for you. Crystals can be in the room, your pocket, or your hand when smudging. Again, it's up to you to decide—whatever feels right.

Smudge Information

Smudging is a practice that involves burning sacred herbs, such as White Sage or Palo Santo, to cleanse a space or person's energy. There are different ways of smudging; you can find this information in books, the Internet, or knowledge handed down. We recommend going with what works for you.

 Below is a brief description of what each item is for. Again, you may find more information elsewhere.

 White sage has traditionally been used to clear spaces and people's auras. It is also used in Native American and other various ceremonies.

 Having White Sage in loose-leaf form allows for quick space cleansing if a light touch is needed. This is also useful for healing, where a smudge stick might produce too much smoke. Some people prefer the white sage to
be bundled into a smudge stick to create more smoke. Choosing between loose leaves and a smudge stick is a personal preference. 

Palo Santo, also known as 'Holy Wood' (Bursera graveolens), is a natural wood with a rich history. The Incas and other South American indigenous cultures used it for centuries as a spiritual remedy, believing in its ability to cleanse and purify. When burned, it releases a delightful aroma, and its smoke is believed to elevate energy, boost creativity, and clear the path for positive energy to flow.

 Lavender symbolises peace, relaxation, tranquility, clarity, rest and balance.

Rose Quartz is a stone of gentle love. It is calming and cooling. It heals emotions. It brings up old emotions and helps to deal with them.

When using this Smudge Box, we prioritize your safety. We highly recommend using a Paua shell or a ceramic dish to catch embers when burning. If working indoors, keep rooms well-ventilated to prevent excessive smoke. However, avoid using in a significant breeze as it may cause the embers to scatter. Always keep an eye on your burning leaves to prevent any accidents. Remember, common sense is a beautiful thing.
