Gem Silica, Or Botryoidal Chrysocolla ranges in hardness from 2.5 to 7.0 on the mohs scale, so can be brittle. So best to keep it in a safe place. The Aqua Blues in this formation of Chrysocolla is outstanding. Sometimes, Malachite, a forest green mineral, can be present.

Chrysocolla is a copper-based mineral with the chemical formula (Cu2H2Si2O5(OH)4·nH2O). It is typically blue to green in color and forms in the oxidation zones of copper deposits. Scientifically, it is often associated with malachite, azurite, and turquoise, and its vibrant hues come from copper ions.
