Megalodon – Fossil Shark Teeth
From South or East states of the USA
The ultimate predator of the prehistoric oceans, Carcharocles Megalodon dominated the seas for 15–25 million years, finally going extinct around 2.5 million years ago. These colossal sharks are estimated to have reached 15–20 metres in length, weighing between 40–60 tonnes – truly giants of the ancient seas.
Because sharks are mostly made of cartilage, teeth are the primary fossilised remains that survive today. Complete Megalodon teeth are rare and highly expensive, but these partial fossil teeth offer an affordable and accessible way to own a piece of this legendary predator. Despite being partial, each tooth retains the size, shape, and natural form, with most preserving good enamel, and some even showing edge serrations.
Once believed to be an ancestor of the modern Great White shark (Lamnidae family), recent taxonomy research now places Megalodon in the Otodus family, reflecting its unique evolutionary lineage.
