Kauri Gum is fossilised resin from the ancient Agathis australis, a majestic tree native to New Zealand. Formed thousands of years ago when resin hardened and was buried in the soil or swampy ground, Kauri Gum is sometimes considered a type of young amber, though it is generally much softer and younger than true Amber. Scientifically it is classified as a fossil resin rather than a mineral.
