Otodus obliquus is an extinct species of mackerel shark and an ancestor of Megalodon. It lived from the Palaeocene (around 66 million years ago) to the Miocene (around 5 million years ago).
Fossilised shark teeth are ancient remains of powerful prehistoric sharks. They are composed of hydroxyapatite, which allows them to preserve well over millions of years.
