Prophecy Stone is the trade name given to these fascinating spiky mineral formations found in the White Desert of the Farafra Oasis, Egypt. They are Goethite after Marcasite pseudomorphs, formed when goethite naturally replaced the original marcasite while retaining its distinctive external crystal shape. The term pseudomorph essentially means “false form”, a new mineral retaining the form of the mineral that came before it. We have been informed that although Prophecy Stones are sometimes sold as Hematite, mineral testing has identified these specimens as Goethite.

Metaphysically, Prophecy Stone is associated with grounding, emotional balance and clear, level-headed thought. It is believed to help calm erratic or overwhelming emotions while encouraging deeper insight, wisdom, introspection and reflection.
