A rare and highly collectable agate, Polyhedroid Agate is a fascinating variety of chalcedony known for its unusual natural geometric formations.
Unlike traditional agates, which typically form as rounded nodules, Polyhedroid Agates have distinctive flat faces, straight edges and angular, polygonal shapes. Their interiors can reveal beautiful banding in shades of grey, white, brown, red and occasionally translucent blue.

Polyhedroid Agate is best known from a very limited and historically significant locality in the Paraíba region of northeastern Brazil. With mining activity having declined significantly since those earlier years, older Brazilian Polyhedroid Agate specimens are increasingly difficult to source, adding to their appeal among collectors.
This specimen has been cut and polished in New Zealand, beautifully revealing its internal patterns while retaining its remarkable natural geometric formation.
