This is a repaired fossil, and the price reflects this. With fossils of this type, repair lines can sometimes be visible. Completely intact, unrepaired specimens are generally less common and command a higher price.
Repaired fossils not only give collectors the opportunity to own a genuine fossil at a more affordable price, but they also help reduce the amount of fossil material that may otherwise be discarded. Preparing and repairing fossils also provides valuable employment for local people in the region.
This specimen is also a little unusual as it still has its small top section with it.
