With larger tumbled pieces that have been polished here in New Zealand, it's not uncommon to find the occasional dull spot. This can be due to the size of the material, as well as the presence of chalcedony and other mineralisation within the stone. Different minerals can vary in hardness and how well they take a polish during the tumbling process, resulting in some areas having a slightly duller finish.

Mania Chert is a fine-grained sedimentary rock composed mainly of microcrystalline quartz (silicon dioxide). It formed through the slow accumulation of silica-rich sediments, often from microscopic marine organisms, which compacted and hardened over millions of years. Chert is known for its toughness and earthy patterns, reflecting its natural, ancient origins. Metaphysically, Mania Chert is associated with grounding, stability, and practical clarity. It is thought to support calm decision-making, strengthen resilience, and encourage a steady, down-to-earth approach when navigating change or uncertainty.
