Citrine is a yellow to golden-orange variety of quartz, with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. Natural Citrine is relatively uncommon, with much of the Citrine commercially available being heat-treated Amethyst or Smoky Quartz. Both natural and heat-treated varieties are genuine quartz and are popular for jewellery and mineral collections.
Metaphysical Properties
Often called the Merchant's Stone, Citrine is traditionally associated with abundance, prosperity and success. It is believed to encourage confidence, creativity, motivation and optimism. Associated with the solar plexus chakra, Citrine is also thought to promote personal empowerment and positive energy. These associations are based on metaphysical traditions rather than scientific evidence.
